Chief Content Strategist
Alex Bennett, Chief Content Strategist, puts clients’ stories into words. His role includes writing high-end content, editing, and providing creative direction. He also oversees freelance writers and helps out with some of the business end of Red Mallard. He has worked with Red Mallard since 2017.
Before switching careers into creative pursuits Alex worked for over a decade in law, first as a Silicon Valley corporate paralegal and later as an in-house attorney for a leading renewable energy company. Alex draws upon his corporate background to provide clients with creative insights aligned with their business and risk management goals.
Alex’s creative vision takes inspiration from an eclectic mix of sources. He reads difficult books for fun and loves watching old movies from Eastern Europe. When the kids aren’t sleeping he’ll turn on his modular synthesizer to make weird electronic noises some might call music.
Alex holds a B.A. in Asian Studies from Cornell University and a J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law. He has also completed the U.C. Berkeley Extension Professional Sequence in Editing. He is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, the San Diego Professional Editors Network, the San Diego Writers and Editors Guild. He’s the author of A Freelancer’s Guide to Legal Entities and has presented to local freelancing groups about how to organize a business and manage contracts.
